IBA grants Radio Licenses

It was a quiet Wednesday afternoon, the day had gone as normal and was about to finish when suddenly the news came – Chejeji FM’s application for a radio license to broadcast on the FM band was approved!!! Check out the post on IBA’s facebook account.

We had been expecting a call for and interview, but looks like that was not needed in the process this time. Instead we were very excited to hear the news that our application has been accepted along with 8 other new radio stations in various areas. Sadly, Chejeji FM is the only new radio station in North Western province – we trust the other will be accepted soon.

It will be a number of days before the paper work is complete and one of the Board Members goes down to pick up the “Conditional Offer Letter for Chejeji FM”, however, there is a lot to do before then. After picking up the letter from IBA, next stop is the ZICTA office where we will seek to put in an application for a frequency which will be the FM station which we will be broadcasting on. This application includes a lot of information that is needed, so we will be filling it in over the next few days as we wait for a call down to the office and will see how it goes!

There are a lot of unknowns with regard to the frequency for Chejeji FM, especially since our district is bordering on 2 other countries, (Congo and Angola) and has such a strange profile. So it may take a bit more time to get the frequency approval, but we shall see.

At least the door has opened and we are now taking one step at a time towards the day of broadcasting… Please continue to pray!
