When you think of the word Chejeji, which means “Light” in Lunda, if yellow is Chejeji FM’s primary colour, what would the secondary colour be that comes to mind? Some may think of white, others orange, but we chose red as the secondary colour, and not just any red – Chinese Sensation Red – a deep rich colour.
In painting the studio we wanted to not only give the place an energetic vibe, but wanted to make a statement. For this reason, we chose a painting style which has never been done in this part of the world before – an accent wall. Most in this part of the world are familiar with dual colour walls, where the bottom of the wall is one colour and the top is another, so when the two kinds of paint were brought that was normal. However, all were shocked to hear that 3 walls in each room would be yellow and one wall would be red!
Most of the rooms in the building are a bit long, and so painting an accent wall in a darker colour than the other walls actually pulls that wall closer, making the room more square and has the visual effect of making the room feel more elegant. The stunning red wall also provides a point of attraction in each room where a person entering the room will look first. On each of the red walls we intend to put something worth looking at – check back later to find out what they are.
