The new year, 2026, is the year of the new look, and to start off with we are putting glass in the window frames. We had most of the glass cut last week and now it is time to change the way the building looks by putting them in.
This new stage is one of the things which will upgrade both the appearance and the usefulness of the building. The appearance is changing fast these days and soon will change even faster, but at this point we are happy that the windows are no longer looking like just gaping holes, but are now starting to looking nice! There is something about putting glass in the windows that makes the building look almost “complete”!
Don’t let your eyes fool you, there is still a lot of work to do before this building is operational, but we are thankful to be on the home stretch.
Appearance isn’t everything even though it is what often catches the eye of those passing by. Even if the windows for the building will look quite similar, there are a few unique windows in this building and that is what we were experimenting with today. Normally, studios don’t have windows in the recording rooms because of the challenges of making them sound proof. However, this building already had spaces for windows, and since it will likely be used as a house later on in its life time, it was decided that we would keep the windows and try to make sure that they were sealed in such a way that they would keep sound out.
So, all that to say that the windows in the recording room and radio room have two glass panels in each frame in order to help decrease the sound entering the rooms. This is normal practice in places where homes need to be quiet and there is a lot of noise out side, but normally these double glass windows are pre-manufactured and then installed. Sadly, this was not an option for us at this time so we have done our best to do it with what we have and trust it will serve the purpose.
Since one double glass window, the experiment, has gone in well we will continue and finish the rest of the house and put in the glass in each of the windows as time and rain permit.
