Studio Purloins on

Recording Studio purloins on

While we wait for more supplies, let me give an update on how far things have gone with the recording studio building.

The rest of the trusses went up well, even the last one which most deemed was going to be the most difficult one of them all. How thankful we are that all were kept safe as we walked along the top of walls moving and erecting the trusses.

Next on the schedule was the installation of the purloins; the horizontal planks that the roofing sheets are attached to. It took some time getting the purloins in place and relatively flat so that we would not have trouble while installing the perfectly flat roofing sheets. However, we made progress slowly and surely until all of the purloins were done, remaining only with the flying truss (the plank that goes on the end of the purloins to keep them flat and tie the roof together).

The roof structure is very clearly not finished, however it is strong and mostly in place so the builders were able to start building the walls to meet where the roof would be. Most were surprised to see that the building has gables, however, using gables was the best way for us to convert this family house into a recording studio since we need to do some special sound proofing to some of the rooms in order to make them fit for recording in.

Bit by bit we are getting there! Things are taking shape!
