Wrapping up the year with Joy!

Businesses are soon wrapping up for the year and going on their Christmas holidays, so first off Merry Christmas to all!

Up here in Ikelenge, the “Christmas flower” also know as the “Doctor’s Joy” but properly named the Flame Lilly, is in full bloom bringing a dashes of red in what resembles small flames to the sides of the roads, ant hills and fields. Along with it, though not as high up in the foliage and not as commonly seen is the Fire ball Lilly, a wonderful ball of red sometimes the size of a football sticking out among the carpet of green vegetation.

The rains have been in full swing for almost 3 months now, so there is a carpet of green everywhere, flowers are in bloom and some have even brought the fruit so desperately desired by all in this area: mangoes, granadillas, oranges, pineapples and the like.

During this season of celebration, colour and enjoyment of fruits, let us remember the Creator of the fruits, the Creator of the colour and the Creator of all things. In an amazing way, the Creator stepped down into this world and was born as a baby “He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.” (1 Timothy 3:16)

“He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, yet the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:10-13

The Flame Lilies and Fire Ball Lilies are amazing in their colour, detail and structure. But this is nothing to the fact that their Creator and OUR Creator came down and lived among us. His purpose was to relate with us and to die in our place at the cross, taking our sins on “His own body on the tree” (1 Peter 2 14b) so that by faith in him should “live unto righteousness” (1 Peter 2 14c), by whose stripes we are healed.

There is nothing more wonderful than to know sins forgiven, a Saviour who is with us and a home in heaven. May you know this as a reality in your life too.
